Calendula (Pot Marigold) is a herb, which is a great source of anti-oxidant, known to calm and heal. It has more neutral, but mild citrus flavor.
Application of Calendula Petals-
As an anti-inflammatory, bloating-acidity-menstrual regulator: Brew a few dried leaves of calendula in hot water for 5 minutes. Strain and enjoy. You may add sweetner or additives of your choice. It is known to soothe the muscles, thus, helping with bloating & regulation of mentrual cycle as well. (Avoid while pregnant)
As a mouth rinse and sore throat soother: Brew a few dried leaves of calendula in hot water for 5 minutes. Strain and let it cool down to lukewarm temperature. Swish it in your mouth, gargle and spit.You can even store it in refrigerator for 3-4 days but always use it once it reaches room temperature.
As a taste enhancer for food items: Add chopped/crushed calendula petals to your food items, including garnishing. You may even add a few petals to your fresh juices for infusion purposes.
As face toner, and disinfectant: Add some calendula leaves to water and let it steep for a few hours. Spray it on your face as toner, on rashes-cuts-bruises-burns-scapes, etc. You can even use cooled calendula tea (without any sweetener/additives) for this purpose. Store it in refrigerator and use within 2-3 days.
As hair tea: Add some calendula leaves to water and let it steep for a few hours, or take some cooled calendula tea (without any sweetener/ additives). Use this to prepare your hair masks or last rinse after shampoo for shiny and mild aromatic hair.
As maceration to oils: Add some dried calendula leaves to an airtight clean container. Pour the bottle with any carrier oil of your choice. Close it and keep it in warm sun for a week. Use this oil for your hair, face or consumption purposes, as applicable, within 2-3 months.
As aromatherapy- Add a few calendula petals to melted wax/ diffusers for aromatherapy.
